Article: The Philosophy of Celebrating Milad

The months of Rabi’ (Rabi’ ul-Awwal and Rabi’ ul-Aakhar) are the season of Milads. The Milad of the Prophet Mohammed SAW is celebrated on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, and then, in Rabi’ ul-Aakhar, we celebrate the Milad of Imam-uz-Zamaan SA, followed by the Milads of three Dais — Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (RA), Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin (RA), and Aqa Maula Syedna Taher Fakhruddin (TUS). These Milads are a time of joy and celebration for Mumineen. What is the philosophy behind celebrating these Milads?

What is the foundation of our belief? Since the day the world was created, there has always been an Imam — Allah’s representative — present on this earth. The Imam establishes Da’wat and takes the oath of misaaq from people, allowing them to enter into the sanctuary of Da’wat. Whoever gives the oath of misaaq and lives in obedience to the Imam will be granted paradise in the afterlife. But whoever does not recognize the Imam will, as Rasulullah SAW said:

Whoever dies without recognizing the Imam of their age dies the death of ignorance

Rasulullah SAW

Rasulullah SAW established the religion of Islam with great shaan. He endured 13 years of great difficulty in Mecca. People insulted him, threw stones at him, and even imposed a boycott for several years. The Prophet bore all these hardships. Why? To establish the True Da’wat and to guide people from the darkness of ignorance to the light of truth. By Allah’s command, he migrated and traveled to Medina, and he fought wars in the path of Allah to establish the True Da’wat. God sent Rasulullah as rahmat (mercy) for all of creation, as mercy personified. But it was not possible for Rasulullah to remain in this world forever. An Imam from Rasulullah’s progeny exists in every age. These Imams are the descendants of Ameerul Mumineen AS and Maulatuna Fatema AS, they are the grandchildren of Rasulullah, and the inheritors of his essence of mercy. They are mercy personified for all of creation. Every Imam in his time, despite the difficulties of this world, upheld the call of truth and established the True Da’wat.

When the 21st Imam, Tayyib Imam AS went into concealment, the Du’at Mutlaqeen were appointed as the Imams representatives at the hands of Maulatuna Hurratul Maleka (RA). These Du’at continued to establish the True Da’wat during the age of the Imam’s concealment, each appointed by the Imam to sit on his throne and uphold the truth. The chain of Imamate continues in concealment, and each Dai establishes Da’wat with the Imam’s tayeed and inspiration and calls Mumineen towards the Imam and the True Da’wat. The presence of the Dai indicates the presence of the Imam, and in the time of concealment, the Dai is mercy personified. As Syedna Ali bin Muhammad bin al-Walid RA stated in a verse of poetry, "We do not say the Imam of the time is hidden, because you, O Mercy of the Most Merciful, our Dai, are present among us." Today, the Dai of the age, our Aqa and Maula, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin (TUS), sits on this throne of rahmat (mercy).

We thank and praise Allah Ta’ala that He has placed us among the people who have answered the call of the True Da’wat. With this belief, we celebrate the Milads of our spiritual leaders, acknowledging their high stations. These days of Milad are times to remember and express gratitude for our Mawaali Tahireen, to reflect on their efforts and the difficulties they have endured in establishing the True Da’wat, and to strengthen our belief. These are days to resolve that the energy and strength of youth that God has granted us will be used in the service of this Da’wat, to sacrifice for our Dai. With God's aid, Iyyaka Na’budu wa Iyyaka Nasta’een (You alone we worship, and You alone we seek help from).

Mubarak and Mohanna to our Aqa and Maula, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin (TUS) on the blessed day of his Milad. May Allah grant him a long life until the Day of Judgment and keep the cool shade of his blessings and protection upon us always. May his Mazoon and Mukasir remain in safety and well-being, and may all Mumineen live in happiness and prosperity.

Syedna TUS Sabaq

العلم وراثة كريمة
Knowledge is the best inheritance.

Ameerul Mumineen S.A

Aqa Maula TUS conducted four sabaqs for the members of Bunayyat & Shabab on August 4th, September 8th, September 29th, and October 27th. During each sabaq, Maulana TUS delivered bayan for an hour, followed by half-hour of answering questions posed by Bunayyat & Shabab members.

In the first sabaq, Maulana TUS started bayaan from the risalat of Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA, Suwaru Haudin Maurood, and explained the profound, yet simple, concept of the existence of God. Syedna TUS then explained why we are on the path of truth based upon four universally accepted principles: reason, justice, free will, and love. Syedna’s sabaqs not only affirm our beliefs but also serve as a guiding light in our journey towards spiritual and intellectual fulfillment.

We humbly offer shukr in Hazrat Imamiyyah for this immense blessing, recognizing the invaluable gift of knowledge bestowed upon us. We pray for the long life and sehhat of Aqa Maula TUS. May he continue to shower upon us the everlasting barakaat of Aale Mohammed’s ilm. May Allah Ta’ala grant us aid in understanding and applying it in our lives. May He aid us in performing khidmat of Imam uz Zamaan’s Da’wat and his Dai, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS.

A first in history, but certainly not last, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb imparted the precious ilm of aale mohammed to youngsters of our community for around 2 hours, hours which felt like seconds. Syedna read from the risalat of Syedna Taher Saifuddin and gave a glimpse of this world and the hereafter. Syedna raised important questions in relation to identity, our purpose in life, and why there needs to be a creator. Syedna enthralled the audience with his wisdom and one would dare miss even a moment in those 2 hours at their own peril. Syedna ended the sabaq with the surreal opportunity to ask him questions directly, and we wished that the sabaq would never end.

Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS has graciously bestowed upon us this remarkable opportunity of the Shabab and Bunyaat sabaqs, in which he enlightens us with the priceless ilm of Aale Mohammed and guides us on how we should implement these teachings in our lives. He engraves the teachings in our souls so we can live a pious, God conscious life and be a good mumin. Syedna TUS encapsulates 10 hours of bayaan in an hour, spoon feeding it to us, making sure we understand the crucial ilm congruously. This truly is one of Moulana’s many magnificent ehsanaat upon us and we can never be grateful enough. How could we ever express the right amount of shukr to the Saheb who taught us shukr.

Syedna's TUS sabaq was a unique and enlightening experience. Aqa Maula tackled crucial, fundamental questions relating to existence, self-identity, and purpose. It was incredible to see how he covered such deep and heavy topics within a short span of 1 hour. There was also a question answer session at the end in which everybody had an opportunity to confirm and deepen their understanding of Syedna's TUS bayan.

Post-Ashara Get Together

Bunayyat & Shabab organized a fun social get together after Ashara Mubaraka this year. The group set off for a refreshing hike through the lush hills of Tikuji ni Wadi. Later, following Maghrib and Isha prayers, they enjoyed a lively games session in the Mazaar-e-Qutbi sabaq room, complete with hilarious antics and delicious food. Inshallah we hope to organize many such programs in the future and we hope more and more people can attend!

A fun hike followed by a tense game of Pictionary :)

Ashara Participation

“I say to all youngsters: make a firm resolve to learn, this is your time to learn. Rasulallah SA said that if one gains knowledge when young, it is carved in stone.”

Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS

During Ashara Mubaraka, members of the Bunayyat & Shabab dedicated themselves to a range of khidmats with the raza and dua of Moulana TUS. They served the niyaz jaman to the Mumineen attending the waaz and gathered feedback from Mumineen to enhance the quality of the meals served. They managed the collection and distribution of qasidas. They also received the sharaf of attending Maulana TUS’s thaal khidmat.

In addition, they made various announcements throughout Ashara, prepared summaries of the waaz and Maulana TUS’s quotes, and participated in various aspects of preparation and broadcasts. They composed marsiyas in the remembrance of Imam Husain SA. The Fatemi Marsiya party devoted their hearts to the gham of Imam Husain and recited marsiyas during Maulana TUS’s waaz and the night majalis. Qutub Khan Bhaisaheb delivered bayaan in Arabic for our Mumineen brothers and sisters in Yemen.

As Bunayyat & Shabab, we remain committed to serving Moulana TUS and our community with dedication at every miqaat and opportunity.
